Cold start problem can be taken care of, but the tranny problem can very costly ($2700 installed). First, you must change your fluid immediately. Make sure to use type "F" and only type "F" don't let anyone tell you any different. After the tranny fluid flushed, add a can (8oz) of "Automatic Transmission Conditioner" made by Justice Brothers for about $6.00 to your new tranny fluid. Yes, I also hate "mechanic in a can", but this stuff trully works. Just to let you know that the automatic tranny on Saab 900's are the weakest link to the Saab's engineering delvelopment, actually Borg's Warner. As for the idling problem and so, check and make sure all the vacuum hoses are intact and not leaking anywhere. Also make sure that the car has a fresh tune-up. Last of all, check your fuel injectors, you might have one or two are bad. Continue to post your findings, and we'll try to help. Best of luck!
