My thought is to remove the chain tensioner to make sure that it is extended at least a little and to ensure that it is not at its end (11mm). Make sure that it is getting enough oil pressure to it and that the oil feed is clear. The distributor has no mechanical advance which would allow a little movement of the timing mark. He is right, it should be rock steady at idle on this car. The only way for movement is to have a bad hall sensor, the plate that the hall sensor is mounted to is loose, bad connection to the hall sensor, arcing from the secondary side to the primary side of the coil (and hence to the primary ignition circuitry (ign amp), or a slack timing chain. I am sure that there is more, but this is what comes to mind right now. good luck.
