Silicone or formaldehyde are bad. You can try to 'stop drill' the crack to relieve the stress at that point with a small burr 1/8 or less.Glue may or may not help. I have heard that it does, but do not do it for cosmetic reasons. Read the article. Others have also said that it appears that Armorall was the accomplice in the cracking of an otherwise reasonably nice dash. (disclaimers: YMMV, $0.02 - this is almost as religious of a topic as gearbox lube)
