Is the engine still not spinning over for you? You logged so many posts I wasn't sure where you were on yer project just now:) Seriously, if the trans is still mated to the motor, is the clutch/pressure plate etc engaged? This might be something to cause a lockup - it shouldn't be any prob to apply 12v to the starter unless the fields were reversed - different motors certainly used diff distributors according to their own unique timing needs, I'm thinking look up distributors on the "search the bulletin board" bar and someone may have something posted for quick reference.
But here's the rub w/ your hopes on the tranny - don't get em high. Realize that as we all know, these components can be the weakest link (goodbye!) in an otherwise stout car - w/ over 100k, even if everything "spins" for you, a trans that committed suicide on a Big Rock incident sounds like a good candidate for Boat Anchor IMHO. I've been wondering - is the tranny in your car too far gone or something? From the logs seems like it's not a problem. I'd rebuild or repair that one before I touched ANYTHING that met deth quickly & brutally as you describe.
And it's great for yer N/A 8v, but the cold air system you created will have to say bye-bye after the 16v turbo is installed - no room. There are other ways - I'm still gettin creative w/ mine! Keep on rocking w/ yer SAAB - anything else is just a car.
