Leaky turbo seals.... how to beat the emissions test?

Just replaced the head gasket and was hoping it would fix the smoke coming off the exhaust manifold. It DID cure the huge plumes of smoke coming from the exhaust (now just a faint puff when hammering the throttle).
I was thinking... the turbo only produces smoke when the car is at full operating temperature. What if I were to park my car in the shopping center next to the gas station, over night? Then in the morning, when the car is still cool, I drive for about thirty seconds across the street and pull into the inspection line, turn the car off, and have them run the emissions inspection with a basically completely cool car, when it is not yet producing the smoke.
Do you think they would not want to run the test if the car is not at full operating temperature? Also, I suppose the car might actually perform better on some aspects of the test if it is hot (ie catalytic convertor needs to be really warmed up, etc).
Is this a good idea or should I just drive around with expired emissions tags? I dont have time to do the turbo seals for a few weeks yet.
Thanks
Rob
