$100 worth, and while it helped, that's not all there is to it. Bill N is right, the long bolt is the major problem. However, the swiveling the bracket trick isn't as easy as it may seem. I couldn't get the A/C compressor off, and that renders the swivel trick impossible... well, not impossible because I did it, but let's just say w/ the compressor on there, the bracket is VERY resistant to swiveling.
Also, getting the alternator out once everything is unbolted can be a bear. Disconnect the heater hoses, but you still have to be careful around that brake M/C and lines, which will get some stress in yanking out the alt. Not to mention the other complication of not being able to remove A/C compressor...stress on the upper A/C hose... did my A/C coincidentally go out the day after I got my alternator reinstalled? Throttle cable is also in the way.
It is just turning bolts and a few tricks, but in my opinion you're really better off letting a pro deal with the trouble (and the liability if something breaks), unless you're a very skilled mechanic (maybe Bill N is) There are better repairs to save the dollars on.
