Hmmm. Well, finding another Saab down here in Florida is not such an easy task, Tom. In fact, the guy selling this orphan said he has nephews "up north" who would love to have the car, but he has no way to get it to them. I told him he'd have no trouble selling the car if he lived up in New England where they're a lot more common and popular than they are down here.
I've already talked to John about getting a Bentley manual, and about some of the strengths and weaknesses of these cars. He's still interested. It would be nice if we could find a better car than this one to start with, but for (potentially) a couple hundred bucks, this one might be worth considering. Not much to lose if it turns out to be unworkable, and if it only takes a few cheap electrical fixes to get it running again, he's in business. My initial reaction to this car was not merely to walk away, but to want to RUN away, and I told him so. But we got to grinning and laughing about it, and now I'm wondering if it might not be fun just as a challenge to see what we can do with it.
I'll definitely keep y'all posted on what we end up doing! :>
