with a totally unknown(well sort of) vehicle the lower the better...
I'm going thru what your friend may well end up doing.
Bought a 1985 900T 4dr, at, 190k, 3 of 4 windows stuck down, parked 2 years, no rust AZ car, paint as good as it gets white, does not run at all, tires hold air------->$300+uhaul tow dolly
P.O. did not have title, prior owner to him said car 'died in traffic' and never updated title
So far to date:
1. get bond title, time & $
2. rebuild window switches, raise 3 perfectly good windows
3. trouble shoot ign. to find LH CPU is missing, replaced used!!!!!!
4. both front calipers leak, replaced used
5. clean int, vacuum many times
6. rebuild dash facia, peeling facia, dirty vents, broken tabs
7. replace center console, esp. ign/key assembly, again used
(boy my parts car is getting striped fast)
8. passenger outer CV gone, replace w/rebuilt half shaft
9. repair hole in front sump cover, very messy
10. replace power steering high pressure hose, used
11. replace power steering pump, used
12. put parts car rims/tires on this car, better shape
13. put parts car 'cat back' exhaust on car, missing on this car
14. replace 3 nuts, 1 bolt on turbo
15. trouble shoot base boost (TBD)
16. replace new seat spring kit, driver side
17. replace oil/filter and air filter, change ALL fluids
18. plug wires bad, replace used
19. suspect coil bad(see #3), replace used anyway
20. ....
Car has blue cloth int, manual moon roof, no blue(or white for that matter) smoke, shifts good when full of fluid, has rear decor panel, has 'extra' switch on dash for rear 'parking' light(weird, although 'extra' dash switch is factory), factory spare battery tray in trunk (says SAAB right on it), missing tool kit and spare....
It helps that I'm unemployed, but geesh!
So, buyer beware?

PS - I always look forward to your post Monster, I only hope your friend suceeds for that reason alone..... ;-)
