After reading all the posts-
Yes, you can put a turbo onto a non-turbo engine. Yes, you can drop a turbo engine into a non-turbo chassis.

With any mechanical task, 'easy' is very relative. For some folks, changing the spark plugs is a feat to crow about. For other folks, pulling the engine and rebuilding it over a weekend is ho-hum. For the first group, doing a head gasket would be brain surgery, and for the second group, it would be 'easy'.

So take all that into account. Putting a turbo on a non-turbo engine and having a car with improved peformance and production-turbo like driveablity takes a lot of work and skill. I have seen many such installations, and the fright-pigs outnumber the good installations by a large margin. Dropping in a new engine with all the required plumbing and electrical lines is a lot of work. For some it will be easy, others hard, but it is an complicated task. Knowing what you can and can't leave out requires skill and expertise.

So - if you have good wrenching skills and the right tools, and a good supply of spare parts, go for it. If you want a project because it'll be fun, and have the time and garage space, that's great. But if you want a turbo car with low risk and minimal fuss, you're better off buying a turbo car.
