Sounds an awful lot like the rattle I chased out for the last 2 mos. Sounded like a loose bracket/rattle in the engine comp. 1st suspect was the exhaust system cause it would only happen at full running temp and just the right rpm's.
I went nuts trying to stop and recreate it while under the car (unsafe I know) whenever it would start up. I asked my mech. about it and he scoffed and pointed to the exhaust bracket arm off the tranny. No way, too obvious, I had already checked it.....well after another month of it driving me nuts I gave in and took the bracket off....and lo' and behold, even though everything was tight, the seating for the bracket was hammered allowing rattling, the bolts were bottomed out in their holes. 2 months, 2 washers later, finally quiet.
Just an idea.
