takes about 1-1/2 hr per side to r&r them. if nothing is siezed up with crud. as es said, replace the ball joints while you are in there. pretty cheap and you will probably waste a dust boot when you use the pickle fork to separate them. doesn't require realignment as saabs don't align from the ball joint. if you can keep from wasting a dust boot when separating them from the knuckle, at a minimum replace the bolts and nuts. theoretically (sp) you should just be able to remove the bottom ball joint, turn the steering wheel so the front of the tire on the side you are doing is out and pull at the bottom of the wheel to remove the shaft from the inner driver. i have found it just as easy and sometimes a bunch less hassle, to pop both ball joints and the tierod off, remove the caliper and hang it off the spring with a piece of wire and pull the whole shaft out so you can work on it. also may think about doing the outer boot and the driver shaft seals while everything is out also. check http://saabsuperstore.com/ for fairly reasonable parts and they sell a lot of things in kits that come with all the parts to do the job.
