but it's pretty easy to turn the pots up a little and test drive. IF you turn them too far (like above 14.5 psi) you'll hit the fuel pressure cutout, so turn them half way back. OR you can turn them a little and if you notice the max boost goes just into the red, you could leave it there. On my aunt's '91 900TC I removed the apc cover while leaving the apc box in the fender, turned both pots about 10 degrees cw with my short tweaker screwdriver, and refitted the cover in about 2 minutes. It went from boosting high yellow to 1/8 red. She was happy with the faster car and i wasn't out there all day messing around with a meter. I'm not saying it's a bad idea. Only that it's an easier project than you think. As far as your tranny..I'll bet your 2nd gear synchro goes bad waaay before your pinion bearings do.
