part of driving in the rain and slushy snow. What the car designers have tried to do is reduce the amount of water intrusion to the engine compartment. Parts that are more water sensitive than others are on the top and thus protected by the direct tire spray but not 'totally' protected from the water that bounces and mists everywhere as you drive. With that in mind I have successfully used the car wash sprayer on my RUNNING engine on the over 30 different cars and trucks I have owned including North American, Asian and European makes. I have never had a problem. My method is to NEVER pull the higher pressure trigger, NEVER aim the water on carburator/fuel delivery system, coil, distributor cap, sparkplug wires or the air filter intake. Everything else is fair game. I wet the engine then I use the soapy brush on everything I can reach and use the rinse/wax setting to wash the soap off. Remember the engine is running and it shakes the heavy pools of water off right away and the heat of the engine vapourizes the rest before I have finished washing the shiny parts.
