Try reading the output voltage of the 02 sensor with it unplugged from the harness. You read the sensor by attaching positive lead to the sensor green wire and negative lead to a good ground. There's something in the sensor itself that creates voltage. Unplugging the sensor puts the engine in open loop mode. Open loop mode is when the ecu doesn't get a feedback signal from the 02 sensor. WIth the 02 sensor unplugged the idle will not vary and your 02 sensor voltage won't either. So you can easily read your multimeter and turn the amm screw until reading 0.5 volts from the meter. If the O2 sensor reads below 0.5, turn your amm screw clockwise to get it richer. Then plug the sensor back into the harness and see if the voltage starts varying like it should. I'm no expert but I believe this speeds things up a little.
