I also coast sometimes when I have a big speed change, and it is very important to 'rev-match' then too. It is also a great time to practice.
when it's right, no crunch or resistance .. smooth. trick is knowing about where the right rpm should be, raise rpm there (foot off clutch), and then quickly shift with the clutch.
while cruising on a safe dowmhill in 4th, about 2500 rpms, pop into neutral, and take foot off clutch. u know 2500 is where to be in 4th, so hold revs there in neutral (foot off clutch), then do a quick shift with clutch into 4th. this is rev matching, related to double clutching.
actual d-clutching is similar, but throttle is blipped just a bit higher than the matching rpm, before quick final shift.
search net .... lots of info on the subject.
