I have had two white 900s', one of which I don't think was ever taken care of, the finish was horrible. And my present '89 cherry red. The '89 had been sitting for a year and was a mess. The trunk, roof and hood, especially the hood, were faded. I tried various waxes and asked a lot of questions hoping for a great way to revitalize the finish. I would try detail shop products that would make the surface shine, but did very little to enhance the color. I had to get to the surface of the paint and remove the surface pigments. I decided to find one product line, stick with it and randomly I picked Meguiars, also went to Sears and picked up a 9" buffer/polisher with all the applicators and pads. I meticulously cleaned the surface with Meguiar's abrasive cleaner. This was a lot of work but well worth it. The red hood I did twice. I eye-balled the surfaces from different positions to see if there appeared to be somewhat of a uniform finish, not so much shiney, more like clean and reflective. Went on to their Cleaner Wax, two coats and then Mirror Glaze. Couldn't be happier with the results. Also use Meguiar's Gold Wash. The red '89, well, you can tell it's not a new paint job, but I have people remark how good it looks. I'm sure there are other products that work as well or maybe better, but this is what worked for me, I had to take all the information in, sort through it and then do something that seemed logical. Start at the paint then build up and out. Good luck.
