Chris - I've done it recently. There are a bunch of clips internal to the seat that need to be disconnected in rows as they occur - by strong pliers as the seat cover is pulled up over itself (like taking off a sweater). The foam padding is a bit of a pain because it is glued in some small spots to keep it from moving around. If you're carefull, it can be done - as long as the padding doesn't crumble too much. I found the padding in my 1985 Aero 900 OK behind the leather, but was a bit fragile down low. Heater elements come with the padding. I took the opportunity to glue on 1/2 inch thick extra padding onto the side bolsters - to hive me a more "huggy" seat. Worked a treat.
The bottom squab is super simple to swap, but is again glued in place. Make sure that you re-glue it with a hot glue gun and all should be fine. Electrics are no problem at all. They come off with the lower squab.
