Hard to tell, but all it can do is transfer juice from the fused and switched lighter circuit on your saab to her car.
Some, if not most cars, have unswitched but hopefully fused lighter sockets so this is a reasonable idea; not so hot on Saabs because the lighter socket goes dead with the key off.
OTOH, if the Saab was running and the ignition to the other car was on, juice should have gone through the little jumper wires.
My guess is the fuse on the jumper cable assembly did its thing and broke the circuit.
