failure. Simply unplug the AMM and try to start the car...if it starts the AMM could be bad or it could just be a blown hose (AKA severe vacuum leak).
Yes, other things could be wrong like a bad relay or pump but in my experience something like this is often just a leaky hose. One year after running strong for 11 hours straight drive, stopping only for gas, my 87 900T just went 'pop' going up a long hill to Mt. Tremblant from Montreal...I knew immediately it was a popped hose. Turned out to be the hose from the compressor to the intercooler pipe...the hose/clamp had held for several tens of thousands of miles since the engine rebuild but I had not tightened the clamps since the rebuild. The old OEM hose had over 220K miles on it, was oil soaked, etc. I removed it, cleaned it with WD40 (all I had in the car for solvent at the time), wiped it clean with paper towels, and reinstalled it and it worked fine for next week and 15 hour trip home (#$#$@%$@ Montreal rush hour traffic on MLK birthday Monday) but I changed out the old hose for a new one.
