Well, on the way home from the girlfriend's house late last night, and the alternator light comes on. It fades on and off for a while, then, when I stop and idle the car, it stays on. As I accelerate, it turns off, then when I upshift, comes back on. I drove home in 4th to keep the engine turning fast enough to keep the light off. Lately, I've been having trouble with the alternator belts sequealing. I put dressing on them, but they started up again after 24 hours or so. I know I need new belts, but will that fix the alternator problem? What has me wondering is that the belts only squealed as I left the driveway, but the light was on almost the whole way home. What do you think?
