Hrm... progress, but the motor won't turn off!

Okay, using the repair site that Tcar recommended from the 9000 BB, I took apart my headlight wiper motor and I can see the problem--the white worm gear inside is not attached to the motor shaft! I pushed it back on tight and re-assembled everything. Now, I plug it in and turn the ignition to ON, and the headlight wiper motor starts running. It did this before, actually--the motor would run but not turn the wiper shaft. It turned the wiper shaft this time for a couple sweeps (i'm not sure exactly how many.. maybe only one.. I was climbing out of the car at this point to go look at it) and then the worm gear slipped off its tight fit and the electric motor started spinning wildly but not turning the gears.
My first question: can I just epoxy this worm gear tightly to the motor shaft so it can't slip off?
My second question: Why won't the motor turn off!? The only way to get that little electric motor to stop spinning is to turn the ignition off and/or to unplug the motor. Is there a switch that needs to be tripped after 5 sweeps to make the wiper "park"?
Thanks,
Tim B.
