it is probably going together dirty or torqued poorly. sealant is a bad idea on that gasket unless done just right. start by cleaning the grooves. that is a non trivial job. gasket remover works best but it is hard to keep it off the paint. a wire brush and acetone is a good second choice. clean the groeve until it is spotlessly clean. then clean the head surface as well.
after that is done you have some choices. i never use sealer but it can be used. use either 518 or gaskacinch. gaskacinch easier to clean. put a thin coat in groove and on side of gasket that goes into it. let dry. insert gasket and gently press it home all the way around. a roller of some sort best. then put a thin coat on the exposed side and on the head surface. assemble carefully to prevent cutouts from sticking wrongly. this can be done with 518 as well. in that case one thin bead in groove. one thin bead on gasket. gasket must be cleaned with alcohol in both cases first.
i do not use any sealer at all on mine. saab advocates sealer (18 or silicon) on cutouts in head only. the real key is in even light torqueing. 11 pounds only. bring it down square.
