i have the same symptom, it is either the alternator ground, stereo ground, or amplifier ground[s], lastly after all that fails replace regulator/brush ass'y. I would do in that order, and remember that the only rule for size of a ground wire is that it be equal or greater than the supply wire: extra grounds never hurt anybody!
