Started using Valvoline SynPower DOT4 a couple years ago, & started having brake "experiences".
'89 900 base 215kmi
'95 Integra GS-R 104kmi
On the Saab, especially, it seemed no matter how much I bled the brakes, I would never get a hard pedal. I could bleed 2 quarts & not see any bubbles, still have a soft pedal. Next day, bleed again, get a bunch of bubbles, then they would be ok forever.
However, once in a while now the pedal would go down slowly while the car's stopped. Classic seal bypass, never any fluid loss, always OK when you need brakes. I just assumed it was my own fault for not rebuilding the MC. But now that you mention it, it started happening for each car after I switched to SynPower.
On the Integra, the clutch pedal recently started to feel "sticky". Best way I can describe it is imagine the piston seals are not lubricated, they catch like sliding rubber against rubber without any grease. All the pedal pivots are greased OK. I just figured in hindsight that I should have rebuilt the MC. I'm sure going to do that next time...
I'm going to be watching this thread, 'cause with my daughter driving the 900, I want the brakes to be good!
