IMHO the best way is to follow Micah's approach. With the driver's seat out(2allen bolts, another reason to get a set), you can stretch out on the floor without getting stuck upside down under the dash. Bend back the air duct(one or two screws) and you can reach up to get the allen bolts. You can use regular allen wrenches, but the long Tee handled allen wrenches with the ball end give you more leverage and more reach at an angle. Once you have the valve unfastened and the hoses off at the firewall, the valve is not hard to pull through the speaker hole.
I ahave done it both ways and while you can remove the console section in front of the shifter and the knee bolster in a 1/2 hour(first time), you can have the whole job done in that time. BTW a helper is good to pull the valve out of the speaker hole while you position it from below.
