You can just undo the axle nut and upper ball joint, slip out he axle shaft end from the knuckle, cut the old boot away,remove the clip from the back of the outer joint,slide the outer joint off the shaft,clean it, slide new boot on and install joint. Sometimes it is easier to just pull the whole shaft but there is no need to remove the caliper/knuckle to pull the shaft.
