I have always just taken the lower ball joint bolts out, then cut the old CV boot off, cleaned out the inside of the joint as much as one can with a Q-tip and such, and then opened up the little circlip that is (buried)inside the CV joint to release the axle. Presto! It is not quite that simple, but if you can pull on the hub while opening the clip, the axle and CV joint will separate and you can slide a new boot on, filled with the proper grease of course. If your ball joint bolts in well greased this will go pretty quickly. It works on a 9000 too... been there.
