only under the described condition. I realize belts don't know anything about what clutch is doing, but belts definitely should be dependent on the torque condition, right? And starting off on a hill is the highest torque condition there can be...or am I crazy?
I've replaced alt. bushings and there's a new matched set of alt/wp belts on there...why one is looser than the other is a mystery to me??
Just now I snugged up the A/C belt a little and I couldn't get it to make the noise... we'll see if that holds true long term.
JB, I haven't tried the marks on the pulley yet. I just bought a floor jack and some jack stands, so that may be more feasible in the near future. Basically I just want to make sure that HB really needs fixing before I do it. I'd hate to spend all that cash on a perfectly good HB when it was just a belt making noise.
Thanks a lot everybody...I love this board! By the way, I readjusted my parking brake at the rear calipers...instead of backing off the allen screw half a turn, I only backed it out about 1/4-1/3 of a turn. Holds still on the hill now.
