Drove my 1989 900S automatic from Atlanta to Pennsylvania. After several hours, needle went to right up against red. Pulled over and hoses were too hot, coolant boiling. Short version: I took out the thermostat (which was not stuck shut by the way), but it still overheats. Drove rest of way by switching from a/c to heater when needle rose. It got me up here. Could it be anything BUT the radiator?? Fans cycling normally. A/C very cold. No decent Saab mechanic in central PA where I am. Would flush and fill POSSIBLY help if rad. is slightly clogged?? Should I put new thermostat in first? Goal is to get back to Atlanta with car no worse for the wear and then get radiator rodded out in ATL. Appreciate ANY expert advice on this one. The hot spell is not helping needless to say. 95 degrees up here!!
Have a great 4th guys! Thanks again for the input in advance.
