I beleive the effiency of the condensor is the biggest problem. I live in Arizona and know someone that has converted their 900 to R134. It works well- up until ambient is about 100 F. The refrigerant properties also have a lot to do with the pressure differences as well. The effiency of the condensor to cool the compressed R134a just isn't there on a car designed for R12.
