finish. I received many compliments at SOC02 about the finish considering I parked right next to a viggen with the same color. Some comments came from people who owned shops and did paint work for a living. Most could not tell the difference in quality from a factory finish as opposed to one that was painted in my one car garage. Of course being self-trained in doing body and paint for the last 15 years helps as I have lots of practice at it. If you sand to much bondo off the first time you just put more on till you get it right. Primer work is important to know where the high and low spots are.
Metal work, if rust repair is needed, takes tools such as grinders of all shapes and sizes, sandblaster, welder, clamps to hold the piece when welding, metal cutters, specialty hammers, etc.
Body and paint is an art. Most people are not equiped with the know-how or tools to do the work and paint and materials are so expensive these days that experimentation can get costly. I had $1000 invested in just those materials alone.
As far as the shine goes, if taken care of, my finish will last a lifetime.
