Paint work is expensive? paint work is hard? paint work is blah, blah blah?
Whatever I say, paint work isn't hard at all, it just takes time that's it and if you have the time you can do it yourself. I hear people say "it's alot of work" and it isn't. What's so hard about stripping a car of it's old paint, doing some Bondo work, primering it and then spraying down some new paint, with alot of wet sanding in between? I don't get it. I've done some body work of my own and I can tell that it's not that difficult to do and to do correctly. Plenty of people all across America are doing restorations in their garages and probably spending maybe $1,000 of the total budget on the paint and slight body work if needed at best. When taking a car to one of these "professional places" to have them do it, yeah it's gonna cost alot cause they've gotta put time into all that prep wrok to get the car ready for paint. If you've got noting to do, or can take a week off from work, you can do the car yourself in than week. Stripping and sanding things down and perhaps filling in a few door dings isn't tough at all, again it just takes time that's it. If you've gotten this far and have preped the car really well....take it on over to one of these el cheapo places and have them shoot it for you if you don't have the equipment to accomplich this task. Pay someone $3,000 to paint my car....I don't think so....
See Ya,
Phil
