I agree about the SPG panels, take them off if you want a nicer job, even if you are repaiinting them the same color.
I recently had my 900T repainted. My dad, me and my dad's friend (actually knew a good amount about painting) did it. We took off the bumpers (we were repainting them a different color, grill, rear lights, and spoiler. So, we left on the small side trim pieces (regretting that now, should have repainted them with the bumpers, but re-sticking them on can be tricky, esp with salty winters), headlights, windows, door handles and side mirrors. It took 2 days to mask the car(my dad's buddy did it, and he knows how to mask). And because of that there is very little of the evidence that you typically see. A little bit of overspray did make it into one of the windows, and onto some of the black trim around the windows. So moral of the story: you can get a good job if you mask, but you have to be very patient with it. Considering your situation, I would remove as much as possible myself, and then give the shop the car like others have suggested.
Thanks,
-Luey
