I marked the harmonic balancer a couple of months ago and just started to get the "squeal" more often, next weekend is the time alloted to crawl under the car again to see if the marks are still lined up or not.
I assume "fix it" means total replacement? If it is indeed the harmonic balancer and i decide to attempt this one on my own, it'll be the biggest job i attempt to date, so i'm not quite sure how i feel about taking it on.
By the way, the trips went well this weekend, but on the way home tonite i believe i had a re-occurance of a prior repair, that i'll have to try and take care of tomorrow... i had the screws that hold the shield behind the brake rotor fall off, so they sit in the bottom of the shield and rattle around, making a rattling noise (unless you let it go, like i did, and then you go over a bump and the screw gets sucked up and lodged between the rotor and shield, creating a terrible "dragging the muffler" noise whenever you move foward).
I'll need some advice on moving the caliper away from the rotor, so if anybody can add, that'll be appreciated. I'll start a new thread at the top for it, or you can reply here.
Thanks to everyone that replied.
