(Well, my wife owns it. I get to drive it whenever the gas tank is empty.)
'01 9³ base 5-door 5-speed 20k miles
basic warranty is 50k miles / 4 years
('99 may have had different warranty???)
I like it better than our '89 3-door. But I miss the flat load floor & I wish the hatch opened up all the way down to the floor. Visibility to the rear quarters is not as good as the C900. I think the C900 is prettier.
It's smoother, more powerful, more comfortable (to me). I hope the new one is better for rust; I'm not real impressed with the C900 for that.
The new one seems better in snow. I don't want to start a holy war, but I don't think the C900 is the best for that. I think the C900 needs real snow tires, where my other past & present cars (2 VWs, Integra, & Accord) could use 4-season tires in the base-car width. (I like summer tires that don't pretend to be 4-season...)
We haven't had any troubles with it yet. (Aside from our daughter getting "a little too close" to a mailbox!@#) Check out the air distribution box. Some years(?) they used the wrong lubricant & had troubles. Hope the one you're looking at has already had it replaced.
Wait till there's a large population of 9³s with 150k miles or so. Then that board will start talking about mechanical stuff. So far they're comparing lease deals & asking what kind of hands-free phones to get. Oh yea, if you want to start a big thread, ask about the class-action suit for the rims.
