I don't understand the dinky comment?? I presently use a single 10 in a .5 cu ft box & it is far from dinky! I have used 2-12's, single 12 & presently a single 10 & this is my preffered setup. YES a 12 does play deeper however they are not nearly as tight & thus are not as musical!
Underpowering?? Hmmmm, isn't he using the decks power? No matter which amp he decides on, you must set it up properly. Get out a bass heavy song & turn the gain down on the amp. Then set the bass/treble/etc at their flat response & turn up the volume of the deck to 75% of it's max. Then slowly turn up the sub amp untill you either hear distortion or the bass is overpowering everything else. Then turn the gain slightly down so the bass isn't to loud or the distortion is gone.
my stereo
Adcom GFA 5475 75x4
Adcom GFA 5275 75x2
OZ Audio CS180 (6.5 component set)
Boston Pro 10.5 (2 ohm sub)
Eclipse CD-8061
My amps are rated at 75 watts at 4 ohms however my sub amp sees a 2 ohm mono load & the 75x4 amp is bridged to 2 channels to power my kick panel speakers.
