Agree with Jonathan on bad alternator ground, give it a wiggle when idling to see what happens...also check other grounds at rad crossmember and trans. Clean battery cable connectors. I would also check the voltage at your battery when off and when running to see if you are >11.5v when off and around 14v when running. Watch for jumps and drops. An intermittent internal battery short can do the same thing. You might also have a bad regulator. I'm not sure if you have EZK ignition and I've never owned a car with it, but if you have EZK do a search on that and crank sensor to see if others have had similar symptoms due to problems with that system.
If all that checks out, then it's time to suspect the AMM. If you can get a known good one, swap it in. You also might want to unplug your AMM while the car is idling. If the problem stops and you go into limp home mode with a high but steady idle, the AMM sounds like be the culprit. Not really a big deal, get a rebuilt from sobstory.
