Flywheel (long)

The only reason a mechanic would want to swap a flywheel is the starter ring gear munched by a bad starter drive. Even a scored flywheel can be refaced by a machinist for about 25-30 bucks. Scoring would show up as gouges in the flywheel suface deep enough to catch your fingernail. Excessive bluing of the surface is overheating and usually disappears with refacing. Once refaced, the surface is perfectly flat and makes the new clutch engage without juddering.
While the flywheel is off, replace the rear main seal which will leak about ten minutes after the whole job is finished if it hasn't been replaced previously.
I would use new flywheel bolts at 6-8 dollars apiece. Lots of Locktite on the bolts whether new or not.
Talk to your mechanic about the parts situation. Most mechanics can explain why they use the parts they do. I would use a SAAB slave cylinder and a Sachs (SAAB oem) clutch because they last the longest. Your mechanic can't quibble about using original parts.
Good luck.
