Depends on what you want to get into...
I currently have an '80 900T and an '86 900S with the old front end. Personally, I like the way it looks and wouldn't change to the newer front end if you paid me.
I'm generally about the Go and not so much the Show, but on my '86 S there really isn't much choice - besides slapping on a turbo, there isn't much out there to help it Go any better. I'm happy with the suspension, and now I'm happy with the audio, so I've been doing little things on the outside. New wheels, paint-matched the airdam and the grille and plan to do the side mirrors, installed e-code H4 lights and the clear corners along with little [ricey] foglights. The grille is redone in mesh. I like the way it looks, and I think I'm pretty much done with the cosmetics.
I've not seen your car I don't think - what kind of stuff are you interested in doing? Quite a bit can be done for not so much money on these old beasts which is nice - just depends on how greasy or painty you want to get.
This is a pic of the car as it is today... not a good one I'm afraid, but maybe it'll get you thinking.
