My son repairs SAABs on the side down here in Tampa. I currently drive a 1991 900 S conv and his brother drives a 1987 900 s Turbo Conv. A guy came over to him in Nov of 99. Had him do some minor work on the car as he had been to a shop that only does SAABs and didn't like the prices. He asked if he would look at the convertible top as it was working in Aug but after he took to the shop is hadn't worked. Someone had opened the bypass valve in the trunk. I am sure that when he took it back the shop would have told him that he needed a new pump. Given him the official bill for 1200 bucks and sent him on his way. The only problem is that they would have just closed the valve.
