900 T clutch problems

I let a friend learn how to drive stick shift on my '91 900T a few times before his trip to Europe. While learning the car jerked back and forth several times, the engine died several times and the clutch took some beating. Now I have some problems:

- Occasional difficutly going into first or second. I have to push really hard to get it in or have to push and release the clutch several times before it becomes easy to put it in gear. This happens approximately one out of 20 or 30 times of changing gears.
- Sometimes the clutch feels funny. It seems to be only catching just before it bottoms out and there isn't much resistance on the foot. This coincides with difficulty in shifting described above.
- Stuck in reverse once. Would not come out of reverse and was backing slowly even with the clutch pressed all the way to the floor. It disengaged only after I turned the engine off and started it again.

What could be the problem? If the clutch is worn out I wouldn think I'd have problems shifting every time but this happens only once in a while.
I never had problems with the clutch before and the lubricant in the tranny is RedLine MTL. Please help with any advise.
