saabs use a hydraulic system to release and engage the clutch.. the part of the system that transfers pedal pressure to the pressure plate.. most modern cars use a simple cable..
this is in two parts.. the master cylinder and the slave cylinder.. for a start check the fluid levels.. u could then try bleeding the system.. the bext stage would be re-rubber either the master or slave or both.. or u can replace them..
some folks tend to think of the "clutch" as a kit.. they would replace the lot.. i dont.. i think of the driven/pressure plates and release bearing as being entirely different parts..
i think your actual fault is the master cylinder.. what else u replace or have replaced is up to u..
the way it works is this.. when u press the pedal.. this is mechanically attached to the master cylinder.. the pedal pressure forces a piston in the master cylinder in.. fluid is forced out of the master cyliner thru a pipe to the slave cylinder.. a piston in the slave cylinder is forced in.. this moves a lever that presses against your release bearing which in turn presses against your pressure plate thus releasing the spring pressure on the clutch driven plate.. when u lift your foot of the clutch the opposite happens.. the driven plate (the bit with friction material on either side)is gripped by spring pressure between flywheel and pressure plate.. the pressure plate provides this spring pressure.. the driven plate is attached by splines to the shaft that goes into the gearbox..
a simple explanation this.. cos i am sure some folks have no idea exactly what happens or how it happens.. he he
