I havnt heard them yet but the audiobahn ABF14Q 4x10 2-WAY HYBRID FLAME COMPONENT SPEAKERS seem like they will give the front 4 inchers a run for the money. They also have detachable tweeters, and I've seen them on the net for $69 and are rated at over 100 watts rms.
I must disagree with dave, but only slightly. He actually corrected himself about the 4" subwoofer combo. But with some pretty decent speaks up front -I have jBL GT's which have plenty of mids and highs, and a mid to high quality speaker in the back, you'll probably get more quality and realism in the sound than with the $29 rear speaks and a sub. And, if you adjust your fade slightly to add just enough to the back to get the bass you need, you should still hear the fronts just fine.
I am not suprised dave's back speakers could overpower the front ones. There just aint enough juice. 30 watts is insufficient to get the quality sound from the fronts. Its easier for the back ones to get the bass happening, but even these are problematic because they are practically rectangles and are not conducive to great distribution.
Still, power is really a key. A higher powered High quality amp will provide - and I know it sounds weird- cleaner power at even low volumes. which means that even if you don't turn it up it will sound better than a lower powered or poor quality amp. It is called HEADROOM. Of course the real difference is when you turn it up. I think subs sound unnatural, but alas, they may be the only way to get the bass in there, short of the 6x9 thing which aparently show above the back panels which equals "hey theives, steal me", at least in NYC.

Anyway, hope this was a help
