I checked my 87 after letting it cool down for 4 hours in 30 degree weather. As I opened the cap, I heard the whoosh of air entering the tank.
There is:
No oil in water
No water in oil
No bubbles coming through the return hose
Yet, the excess pressure in the system has made me go through 2 expansion tanks, lots of hoses, water pump, radiator
There may have been presence of exhaust gases in coolant, but how the hell can I check that. Anyway, by process of eliminating all the other symptoms, it's time to fix the real problem.
Only other problem is it has either rained or snowed here for 5 of the 6 days of this year. I'm in the process of cleaning out my garage, so I can actually put a car in there
