about the slight high pressure leaks into the waterways being very common.. but it should not be.. cylinder pressures should stay in the cylinder if all is well.. the dirty little secret i might well have discovered is that this condition is very common in high milege saabs and that some folks think its as things should be.. cylinder pressures are very high.. without the pressure cap letting it out the slow build up of pressure would blow something evertime the car was driven..
but 15 psi is too high for a cooling system it is not designed to run at this pressure constantly.. being in this condition will cause problems.. in fact if all is well.. the only time this pressure should be achieved is in a overheat situation.. then the cap which in essence is a safety valve to stop the hoses blowing lets it out..
so what are we arriving at here.. saab head gaskets need changeing if this problem exist.. that most of the saab cooling system problems are in fact caused by this condition. and that most of what has been said on the issue is wrong..
u are probably correct in believing this condition is normal for a lot of folks but u are wrong in believing that cylinder pressure getting into the water system is how things should be.. it isnt.. its a fault and it really needs fixing.. it needs fixing at the beginning not after every other option in the universe has been tried and failed.. which seems the normal way of doing things.. he he
perhaps i can start a new fashion.. he he he
