if u stopped the car because of high temp gauge readings u are not likely to have caused damage..
might not apply to a saab this cos of all the wierd stuff i have read but dont entirely believe about three way stats.. but one test i have always used when knowingly driving a car with water leaks is the heater working.. basically as long as there is water in the system and its going around no damage will be done.. the heater still working is a good test of this..
what can happen with real overheating.. with new and tight engines the pistons can expand too much and pick up on the bores.. valve seats can fall out (had this one myself) okay.. heads can warp but this would only show up mostly when u take it off.. your bearings will not have been damaged.. if this was case u would know..
if when the leak is fixed and everything runs okay i would forget about it..
