that wants to repair the Saabs the right way instead of cheap way.

If I would follow all the advice from car owners to cut the cost and make it cheap, I would have soo many comebacks.

The repair shop actually have to work as a governmental institution educating the owners what they can do and what they can't.

I'm all for that an DIY do whatever they feel is right to their car (been there myself and paid dearly for it), but the repair shops have a duty to leave warranty that the repair actually gonna fix the car.

As for the plastic cage, it will get brittle with age, and the chances are great that part of it breaks when pulling the pump motor out.

You also have to create a new hose between pump and housing, this hose cannot be as short as the hard plastic original one (it would kink).

You also need a fuel hose that you know for SURE is gonna work with being submerged in gasolin for years.

I'm not ready to take all those chances.

It's a pity though that Saab raised the price on the pump unit with over $100.00 just over night.
