I'm all for indy's, but I bet you would not have charged him for 2 hours of labor, though.
I also have a hunch that the plastic cages are brittle from day one and can break any time they get forced when removing or installing them. I was careful and had no problems. I have never heard of anybody else on the board having probems with the cage. Maybe you've seen them disintegrate?
Since it's been several years and 150k miles since I put the new walbro pump in my 90 900t, I can't remember having any trouble with hose replacement in the basket. i clearly remember that the only difficult item was swapping the open supply elbow for a check valve elbow. I used the clamp that came with my flaring kit to hold the hard line while I gradually forced the check valve into the hardline. I think Randy's already has the check valve in the elbow, so the extra hour possibly spent on this should be avoided.
