I just got rid of the previous owners set-up. Rather than just get the right hoses, he replaced the bypass valve with straight hoses. This looked like quadruple heart bypass surgery, and all the coolant bypassed the heater core, taking the path of least resistance.
Anyway, most folks agree the bypass valve is useless.
I am not the most environmentally friendly mechanic. I just let the antifreeze spill out. I lost all of about a cup of coolant.
The hose with the tee that goes under the intake manifold is a pain in the ass.
Heat is nice & toasty now
