Just an update- I made the conversion over the weekend, changing over to the hose arrangement WITHOUT the bypass valve.
I have to say that the heat is a little hotter, but it still isn't as hot as my 1990 900 Sedan heat. Maybe I'm losing heat out the soft top. I'll wait and see how it is tomorrow morning with the colder weather expected (20s vs. high 30s today).
(The job itself was NOT fun- the heater hose that has the T in it was an absolute bear to get at to tighten the hose clamps. The end that goes into the engine block is obsured by the AC pump above it, so you can't get a screw driver on the hose clamp. I had to use a short 7mm box wrench, with a very short amount of room to rotate....it took a while to tighten. The other end of the T, going into the air intake manifold was also very tough to get to...I can't say my patience is high for this stuff any more.)
